Setup:
-
Divide the players into two teams: Purple and Cyan. Each team chooses one player to be the Chief Consultant. The rest will play as Residents.
-
Open the Secret Consult Game File, start the Slide Show from the beginning, and click Play.
-
Randomly select any of the 25 Game Tiles to select a game board.
-
Open the Secret Grid Randomizer. Choose one of the three files to help select a Secret Grid. The Excel file creates a random Secret Grid. Macros must be enabled to use this. The PowerPoint file has a clickable menu of Secret Grids, and the pdf file has printable Secret Grids that you can randomize manually. Each Secret Grid randomly assign the roles (Purple Colleagues, Cyan Colleagues, Confused Patients, and Infiltrator) to each word on the board.
-
Only the Chief Consultants may look at the Secret Grid!
-
Click the icon at the bottom of the slide to switch the background color and show which team’s turn it is.

Gameplay:
-
Each team takes turns, starting with the Purple Team.
-
Chief Consultants take turns giving clues to their teammates, The Residents, to try to get them to guess which words correspond to the Colleagues of their team’s color.
-
Clues are a single word and number. The number tells how many words on the board are related to that clue.
-
Example: The Purple Chief Consultant says, “Cerebellum: 2.” This indicates to the Purple Residents that two of the words on the grid that hide Purple Colleagues pertain to the cerebellum.
-
The Residents discuss and choose which cards to guess based on the clue.
-
One at a time, they announce their guesses.
-
After each guess, the Chief Consultant from their team reveals the chosen card’s identity by tapping the correct corner of the chosen word box:
-
Top left → Purple Colleague
-
Bottom right → Cyan Colleague
-
Bottom left → Confused Patient
-
Top right → Infiltrator
-
-
If they reveal one of their team’s colleagues, they may continue guessing, up to a total number of guesses equal to the number given in the clue+1, or they may pass. If they pass, the turn ends.
-
If they tap a rival’s Colleague or a Confused Patient, the turn ends,
-
If they reveal the Infiltrator, the game ends instantly and their team loses
When the turn ends, toggle the icon at the bottom of the slide to change the background color and to indicate that it is now the other team’s turn. -
The game continues with alternating turns until one team finds all of their Colleagues and wins, or finds the Infiltrator and loses.
-
To play a new round, click the Card Icon at the top to return to the grid or click in Exit.
